London vs. London

The Ontario version vs. the Original version.
(There is no competition - really.)

I had a very nice visit with my 2oobs friends. Brianna and Andrew were great hosts (and have a really great apartment!) and I was very happy to see everyone. But the nightlife in London doesn't leave much to the imagination. At the clubs you've got everyone trying to get into everyone else's pants, bouncers fighting to keep drunken boys from punching each other out, booze all over the floor/walls/people, and of course a whole lot of bad hip hop. Amazingly enough, through all of the not-so-hotness of London, Ontario's club scene, I survived and emerged onto a very cold main street crowded with what I can only assume was the entire undergraduate population of UWO (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little). I saw more fights, a man peeing hands-frees, some barf, and a lot of very cold girls in very tiny skirts. London, you have one redeeming feature on a Saturday night: Mexican food.

Brianna, Amish, Lisa and I grabbed some burritos while Rob, Alexis and Brad walked the long walk back to Bri's place in the cold. The burritos were nothing in comparison to Brighton's EL TACO, but they hit the spot and made me forget for a few moments what was going on on the street outside (and at least I could get my hands around this one without making a mess, thankyouverymuch - see below for an EL TACO veggie burrito....mmmmmmm EL TACO).

I know that seems like a lot of bitching about one night in a busy town, but either I'm getting too old for clubbing or that town is just really really annoying.

In other news, work is going very well. I've had two 7.5 hour shifts already this week (with three more to come) and am enjoying it a lot. The story is busy, the people are excited when they find the books they need, and I am getting to know my way around. This week I am playing the part of expert on: business, ESL, reference, computers, transportation, science, nature & pets, travel, and biography. Not to mention my friendly front of store greeter expertise. The only downside to working in the store for so many hours is that now I have the faint sound of a telephone ringing playing over and over in my head. Here's hoping I can get to sleep without too much trouble.
